TEAMBATH VETERANS HOCKEY CHALLENGE- SATURDAY 15TH JUNE- UNIVERSITY OF BATH SPORTS TRAINING VILLAGE

The 7th annual teamBath Veterans Hockey Challenge took place at the University of Bath Sports Training Village on Saturday.
10 Men’s and 6 Ladies sides braved the ever changing weather conditions to enjoy an excellent days competitive hockey.
The Men’s event was run in two groups with home side Team Bath Buccaneers racking up a 100% record to take the Group A from Yate in second spot
In Group A Bristol & West edged out newcomers Cardiff & UWIC.
Unfortunately Buccaneers were forced to withdraw though lack of players allowing third placed West wilts a semi final birth. However they could not
hold off Bristol & West going down to late winner. In the other semi-final Cardiff produced a fine display to reach the final with a 2-0 win over Yate.
The final saw Cardiff take the title with a close fought 1-0 win over Bristol & West.
In the Ladies section a round robin format saw some close matches but winners in 2010, BAC from Bristol, superior goal scoring exploits saw them
victorious over local City of Bath in the runners- up spot.
University of Bath organiser, Nick Kendall, says ” another successful event despite the heavy showers. It was good to see many of the teams here again
but also good to see newcomers, Cardiff, take the honours in the men’s event. A big thank you to all the umpires/officials who put in a lot of hard
work on the day;”
