BAC 0 – Marlborough 6
Written by: Cheryl ‘Chezza’ Sellick
It was a sunny day & we were ready to play top of the league. Marie was back ( hooray), she just couldn’t stay away!!
BAC started well and played some good hockey – putting Marlborough under some early pressure which frustrated Marlborough, BAC forced an early short corner but will no luck this week!
Marlborough then woke up and came back and had a lot of play and shots at goal but BAC held firm with a lot of good defending and great saves made by from Kay. Their pressure finally paid off and they scored 1-0 down. They had more chances but great defending from short corners and more great saves from Kay – kept them out. BAC stood firm and at half time only 1-0 down ( massive improvement to the 1st game against them at their pitch)
2nd half:-
We knew it was going to be tough – it was getting warmer , although BAC once again stood firm and had some good play but Marlborough turned up the heat on BAC, they are a strong side and as soon as they got possession back they created chances and finally their pressure led to 2-0 with a good strike from the top of the D.
BAC regrouped, and everyone continued to work hard all over the pitch but the ball just kept coming back at us.
Marlborough got several short corners which BAC so far had done well to defend, Woolly Pully mentioned this whilst defending but then they scored – 3-0 — cheers Katie! LOL ;o)
Marlborough kept coming but the BAC defence was holding strong, some last ditch tackles were made and Kay made some great saves again. Nothing anyone could do about goal 4 as this was a great strike in the corner. BAC were now tiring but Marlborough kept coming at us, you would think 4 was enough ??? but they are a clinical side and they were after more.
The 5th was unfortunate and the 6th caught BAC on the break and was a well worked goal – that was it final score 6-0
Even though we lost it was a good team effort this week.
Marlborough team mentioned we made it hard work for them which is a massive compliment and we will take that into next week’s game , it shows what a great effort we put in to the game to stop a very good side that will go on and win this league – at least we won’t have to play them next year!
They also complimented how awesome our keeper Kay had played!!
This reflected in the voting this week :
MOTM:- 1st:- Kay
2nd:- Cheryl
3rd:- Maz
4th:- Sledger
This was also MAZ’s last game of the season – so another one bites the dust – Maz and Andrew are off to Australia for 3weeks
Teas for those who went back were eventful – some dietary requirements needed to be made for the opposition – no butter on the bread and vegetarian sausages were requested!!!
Don’t forget – EVERY DAY MATTERS
