Clevedon v BAC 1-7 (22/02/14)
Written by: Maz Wilson
The first team were away to Clevedon this sunny Saturday with guest appearances from Hammy, Lis and Lor and plenty of out of control supporters on the side line. BAC started strongly and held onto the possession nicely. It took 10 minutes before Tinny found the back of the net which caused Clevedon to liven up, Hammy worked hard in defence to make a great pass through to Tinny who did one of those funny wiggly run things around players and made it 0-2. Katie W-P joins in the fun and made a run out of defence, slips it to Tinny and its 0-3 before we know it and its half time already. It’s actually quite pleasant playing hockey when it’s sunny and not blowing a hooley or raining or cold, who’d of thought it!
BAC are back after the break and despite appearing to be on top, Clevedon manage to get a goal back. Lisa decided to have a mini breakdown, but somehow we all got it back together and get another goal back. Sally finds herself in the right place and the right time and finds the back of the net with an awesome finish. Tinny manages to get a couple more then goes over on her ankle and has to be carried off L The team continue to the end with some nice passing and support play – just out of the training manual!
The match finished 7-1 and off to teas we went to the other side of Clevedon – we had ourselves a convoy! Maz got to drive the Mini and managed not to crash and parked it and did a bit of reversing!
Marie got presents as it was her last game as she is moving on to pastures new (now she’s not a cow, it’s just how you say these things). Man of the match went jointly to Marie and the Slegend (Debbie), and Maz got some votes – maybe it was for her Mini driving performance?
Oh… and we had cake!!
P.S. We nearly got to keep Marie as her car got stuck in the mud outside Clevedon’s club house but unfortunately she managed to get away….
