BAC v Chippenham (07/03/20) 2-3
After the huge disappointment of last week, we knew we had to throw absolutely everything at this game. It’s not over until it’s over and the word of the day was ‘believe’. There was also a special guest appearance from our stand in coach to help us out.
BAC were under pressure early on and had little attacking opportunities. We kept Chippenham at bay for a short period thanks to some solid defending. However, it wasn’t long before Chippenham got the breakthrough and their second soon followed when BAC were unable to clear the ball from the D.
Chippenham increased their lead further, through some nifty individual skill and finishing. All 3 of Chippenham’s goals came from open play and the half finished 3-0.
We still had to believe we were going to get something out of this game and BAC started the second half much better in all areas.
We started creating more attacking opportunities and this was rewarded when a diagonal pass from Debbie was picked up by Tinny who went round the defender, and slotted it over the keeper for BAC’s first. Was this the start of a comeback?
BAC continued to fight and go in strong in the tackles. Too strong in the cases of Bryony and Sledger who saw green at different points during the half. However, we didn’t give up and reduced the deficit further after a pass from Helen found Tinny, who took it well to net her second. Chippenham 3 BAC 2. Chippenham were getting nervous.
Despite a stronger second half performance we couldn’t complete the comeback and it finished Chippenham 3 BAC 2. It was another frustrating day at the office.
Player of the match this week was awarded to:
1st: Helen
2nd: Debbie, Maz 3rd: Dave, PJ, Tinny
