BAC 5 – 0 Gloucester2 (4/10/14)
Match report brought to you by Maz, the number 11 and the colour purple.
This weekend saw BAC take on Gloucester 2s. It felt like the hockey season had truly started – it was 10 degrees cooler than last week and pouring with rain! As the teams battled their way through the bring and buy sale it was decided to do the pre-match indoors so as not to get our shinny new kit wet.
As luck would have it the skies cleared for the start of the match which started off at a fair old pace. BAC piled on the early pressure and were rewarded with a goal from Sally sweeping in a pass from across the D. The game was going BAC’s way and after winning a short corner (surprisingly their only short corner of the game), found the back of the net after some nifty passing in front of goal between Tinny and Lisa. BACs defensive short corner routine was extensively put to the test but despite Wooley-Pulley having a cold – it just mad her madder – a clean sheet was kept. Bish tested the Gloucester keeper to the max – which saw her flying through the air like a bird to make a fantastic save. BAC went into the half-time break with a three goal lead after another period of good play and passing saw Tinny put it past the keeper again.
There was a feeling of déjà vu – a three goal lead…
Mustn’t let it slip, mustn’t lose those lovely three points…
Well Gloucester came out fighting as you’d expect being three goals down which sent BAC into a mild panic. Instructions were going awry as the hearing of those with colds was getting lost in the ether. People were running about like headless chickens and Gloucester took their chances. As luck was on BAC’s side his week BAC held firm and were helped by Becky making some fab saves. After some order was restored and the passing game settled down, a quick run and some passing moves from Liz gave rise to another goal from Tinny (now on a hat-trick, again!) which settled everyone down. Gloucester continued to press, Lisa tried to exert calming influences in a captain like way on both teams to little effect. Taking matters in hand she delicately put the ball in the back of the net from a strike from Tinny to make it finally 5-0.
The bring and buy sale did well out of BAC this week with Liz purchasing a electronic piano with microphone (which was really for Bish), much hilarity ensued in the changing rooms much to Ruby’s embarrassment.
Man of the match this week went to the Slegend with Tinny and Bish in second place and a whole gaggle of ladies bring up the rear – Lisa, Emma and Becky.
