Our first pre-season friendly saw us on the M5 to Weston-Super-Mare, with new kits donned and our buckets and spades packed we were ready to go……….

……….well apart from the ones that got stuck in traffic.

A few of our familiar faces were missing, what with our Cher & Bish off trekking in China and our Becks getting a Mani and a Pedi. In their place we welcomed Kay, Sophie, Ali Howard and Katie Li from the 2’s. Also new to the squad is brand new shiny player Emma making her winter season debut.

This whistle blew, the sun came out and off we went, attacking from the off and piling the pressure on to WSM, although WSM did make some breaks, Katie Li, WP and Wilderness Maz saw them off, when they couldn’t Kay stopped any shots dead in their tracks! From defence right up to the forwards we pushed hard and got ourselves a short corner. With Maz pushing out to Tinny, Tinny struck the ball hard, but the keeper managed to smash it away, to newbie Emma who slapped it home!! 0-1

Other things happened at this point, Ali managed to make it to the pitch, we kept attacking, they got some short corners, but our mighty defenders and a stretching Kay put paid to them getting a goal and Emma got herself a green card for using her stick as a samurai sword! Tsk. Tinny had shots denied by the WSM keeper, who found it hilarious to taunt her old school chum and Katie Li did some amazing tackling and frustrated the WSM attackers.

HALF TIME

As the whistle went for the second half, BAC started as they finished, by attacking. The defence sent a ball flying up the pitch and our very own warrior Sophie managed to pip it just before it went of the pitch, she was on her own though, as we were all admiring her run. We received a long corner from this. Well done Sophie!!

We kept up the pressure and carried on the attack, some cracking runs by Kingers, Tinny and Sledger saw the oppo goal under pressure, then with a super cross from Lisa to Ali, Ali slammed home a cracking goal!! 0-2

Again with some cracking midfield play from Sledger, Liz and Emma, the ball found its way to the forwards where Lisa did a fab cross into Tinny who struck towards me, and I missed. No excuse just missed it. Shortly after this, I took a ball to the thigh giving BAC another short corner. This time the ball went out to the top, then to Tinny who text book crossed it to Maz, who text book deflected it in!! Awesome goal! 0-3

WSM didn’t give up and with some text book stunts of their own scored a cracking goal not long before the final whistle. 1-3.

Super start girls, let’s keep this going!!

A few of us then headed off the beach for some fun and frolics, I can’t tell you much more coz, what goes on at the beach stays at the beach…..apart from the sea, we never saw that!!
