We visited Coombe Dingle this week in the warm spring sunshine for a clash against Westberries. We started fairly slowly with Westberries settling in to the game quickly and putting our defence under some early pressure. This resulted in Westberries opening the scoring.

BAC started to get stuck in with the tackling and Sledger, getting a bit keen picked up a green card (a little harsh some may say!). We were playing some positive hockey working in triangles and after some good work in the midfield, Lisa picked up the ball ran through in to the D and slipped the ball past the keeper to bring BAC level.

Unfortunately we conceded just before the break which made the score 2-1.

A positive half time team talk was given. We had to keep our heads up as we were still in the game and with only 1 goal in it we had to start the second half believing we could turn it around.

We brought the score level again by a passage of play which started in defence by Cheryl, up the field to Lor then to Lisa who netted our equaliser.

It was end to end with the game opening up as both teams were being stretched in order to get the winner, however the defences were staying strong with good saves and solid tackling. Good movement from our front three meant Sledger had an opportunity to put BAC in front with a one on one with the keeper. Fortunately for Westberries the ball went the right side of the post.

In the dying minutes of the game Westberries scored the winner from a short corner to take the three points. The final whistle blew and to say we were disappointed is an understatement, it was like the Leominster game all over again, everyone had worked so hard and we certainly didn’t deserve that.

We need to take the positives out of this game and pick ourselves up for the remaining two games of the season.

Man of the Match:

1st Lisa – a sterling display up front with 2 goals was awarded with some bedtime reading ‘Dealing with PMS’!!!
