Match Report ~ BAC 3 – 0 Firebrands3
The morning started with some lively banter about women’s ‘stuff’. This left Katie a touch mortified. How could we discuss such things. Back to the hockey. Our last home league game. A crunch game. We had to win as it was still mathematically possible for us to be relegated! ….and we’re off. We started with great enthusiasm and scored in the first three minutes. A great run from Lisa, a lay off to Tinny-goal. That was a better start for us and settled us down. We put together some good positive play and at half time it was 3-0. 2 goals for Tinny and a goal for Sally (MOTM a few weeks ago-in case that passed you byor had forgotten!)
We were ready to press on in the second half and build on our lead. Firebrands too had decided to make a game of it and this brought out the best from our defence including some good saves from Becky. We also had some good attacks and despite not scoring from our short corners they were a bit better this week. During one of the goalmouth melees Katie deflected the ball onto Sally’s thumb- ouch- man up vice! Liz was apparently shown a green card for her tackling but not a lot of people knew that! No goals for BAC in the second half. Firebrands scored but the goal was disallowed because of a high stick. This was much to the disgust of the Firebrands coach.
All in all a good game for us and a much needed 3 points secured. Now no relegation looming. Unfortunately this meant that Firebrands were going to be one of the two teams to drop out of the league. This is a shame as they were a nice team and it was a good game.
MOM votes 3rd Cheryl and Lisa, 2nd Liz and the winner was Tinny who won a rubber ring to signify that we are still afloat in the league.
Lovely curry-last teas at the pub. Ah, shame, bye bye best teas in the league!!
Dessert,Victoria sponge courtesy of Maz, lovely, Mary Berry would have been proud of it!
